FISW Middle School students produce the school’s first class newspaper
FISW’s Middle School editorial staff reviews their printed product
Would you like to know what hot topics are burning in the FISW Middle School, or more about AI in class? Wondering how it feels to stay overnight in school during an unexpected snowstorm or take part in a day of virtual distance learning? Then look no further than Die Frankie Zeitung FISW, a newspaper produced by a group of Grade 7 and 8 students from FISW’s German Language and Literature (GLL) class.
In what is a first for the Wiesbaden Campus, students in the GLL class created their own newspaper as a collective writing project covering a variety of exciting topics. The newspaper includes interviews, editorials, a comic, crossword puzzles, and of course something which should never be forgotten – a joke page.
An idea is born
The idea for the newspaper first came about during a unit in the German class. Students

first edition of the newspaper, students held a “press conference” during their German class where they made sensitive choices about final topics and layout.
watched a tutorial about making a newspaper to familiarize themselves with print and layout, and then read and analyzed piles of different newspapers to get an idea how theirs could look.
