Each delivery is sent out with an official FIS thank you card, designed by Grade 9 student, Vienna, with an acknowledgement that“our international community wants to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your tireless commitment and exceptional care for your patients and their families.”
As gratitude is given, it is also received. Gifted bouquets of flowers, a set of brass guardian angels and words filled with appreciation flow back to the members of the baking community. Dee Herbert beautifully expressed the value of “highlighting to the kids that even in hard times the rippling effect of a small thought of kindness can develop and flourish with effort, coordination and community.” She also recognized the heartfelt commitment of the group's leader: “Way to spread
the love. Thanks for the initiative, Debra Damron!”
With spirits raised by this generous undertaking, one wants to hum a sweet melody with words echoing a deep known truth, “All we need is love, love. Love is all we need” to help counter the distance, the sadness, the hardship of a world made weary by a virulent virus.
